St Chads

To sympathetically replace a redundant former church building with replacement dwellings in keeping with an established built-up residential area in Blackburn.

The client purchased the property with intention of demolishing the building last used for light storage, and to maximise the number of family homes the site would accommodate to facilitate the local housing market.

Full planning permission was achieved to demolish the detached character former church, and to replace with three semi-detached 2.5 storey dwellings, encompassing mixture of 3 and 5 bedrooms.

The pitched roofs and stone façade acknowledge the former church. Our design and layout make full use of the site, respecting boundary lines to provide well-proportioned dwelling houses with off street parking and private garden amenity.
